“Music melts all the separate parts of our bodies together.” –Anais Nin
The words from the French-born prolific author, Anais Nin, describe what music and singing can create—a feeling deeper than words might be able to express. Singing, in particular, expands the breath so that more oxygen enters the body and brain while allowing the voice to express words and sounds that come from within. I don’t want to seem overly esoteric in this regard, but singing of any kind by anyone can be a very freeing—even existential—experience.
Friday evenings at Congregation Shaare Emeth often leave me more energized than when I started because of the sounds of your voices from the Congregation. The music we create together creates a unique sense of peacefulness, support and community. I’d like us to continue together on this path of strengthening and encouraging our collective “Congregational Voice,” and I to invite you to participate!
Beginning Wednesday, May 6, and continuing each Wednesday in May from 7:30-8:30 p.m., I will teach a series of Congregational Voice Workshops.
You don’t have to be a singer, but you have to have an interest in it. If you are already comfortable singing, this workshop will add to your tools. The series of four hour-long workshops will each be different, but you are invited to come to as many or as few as you like.
This series of Congregational Voice Workshops is for you if you:
I look forward to seeing you!
