Each month Cooks and Books discusses a book and makes a meal featuring an aspect of or inspired by that book.
We made 100 meals for homebound Medicaid seniors including homemade brownie and other bar desserts! This is a mitzvah project in which Shaare Emeth hosts occasionally.
Shirlee Green Preschool and other preschool-aged children (and siblings!) joined together on the SGP Playground for activities and water fun. Snacks includes several goodies for kids and bagels, fruit and coffee for adults.
Shaare Emeth walked with other Jewish Communities in the St. Louis Pride Fest Parade and helped staff the Jewish Communities information booth where we handed out bracelets made by the Shaare Emeth youth groups, Next Dor and others. Our goal: to demonstrate inclusiveness by showing our tents remain open to everyone who wants to join including the GLBT community.
Aug. 17 we hosted our first Tater Tot Shabbat for community families with children ages five and under (and their siblings). First we celebrated Shabbat with a short, child friendly service, and then we all met for a free Shabbat dinner with, of course, tater tots!
Everyone was invited to join the celebration of the Festival of Sukkot, participate in activities and learning opportunities for all ages, and partake in a free picnic dinner.
The Shaare Emeth Seniors visited the Sheldon Concert Hall for coffee followed by a concert with Tim Schall interpreting the music of “The Gershwins.”
|Congregation Shaare Emeth is one of the leading Reform congregations in North America. Whether celebrating Shabbat, exploring the insights and wisdom found in Torah, or gathering to make a difference in our community, we are a congregational family dedicated to deepening and enriching our connection to Judaism. Shaare Emeth is in the heart of St. Louis' dynamic Jewish Community. We are fortunate to have a beautiful campus at the corner of Ladue and Ballas Roads in Creve Coeur, Mo., a lovely community in West County St. Louis.|
