The Board of Trustees is the volunteer leadership of the Shaare Emeth Community. Members are nominated and voted on by the Members of Congregation Shaare Emeth and serve two-year terms.

Renee Silverstein and her husband, Sam, have been members since 1988. Renee has served on everything from Preschool Chair, Camp Chair and Religious School Chair to becoming involved with the Board and strategic planning. Renee is the Vice President at Sam Silverstein Enterprises, Inc and spends her free time enjoying her family, reading, mah jongg and going on long walks. One of Renee’s favorite things about Shaare Eemeth is that she is given the opportunity to follow her passion to serve.
Michael Lefton and his wife, Debbie, have been members since 1997. Michael has served on the board since 2016 and also serves as Chair of the HR Committee and a member of the Operating and Policy committees. He is also a graduate of the adult Hebrew/B’nai Mitzvah class. Michael is also a member of the board of Trustees for the Jewish Federation, the Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis and the St. Louis Men’s Group Against Cancer. Michael is the Chairman and CEO of Metal Exchange Corporation and enjoys playing hockey, watching his son play hockey and watching the Blues play hockey in spare time as well as watching his daughter cheer and dance. One of Michael’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth are the beautiful Shabbat services and the warm feeling he and his family have about the rabbis really knowing him and his entire family
Beth Manlin and her husband, Mark, have been members their whole lives. Beth is involved in various activities at Shaare Emeth as an OC member, parent volunteer for ECC and as a Co-Chair for the 2015 Heart and Soul Gala. She also serves on the Executive Committee for Spoede School. One of Beth’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is that she considers it her second home and an essential part of her and her family.
Bill Remis and his wife, Sharon, have been members since 2012. Bill has served the board since 2015 and is also the Chair of the Spring Fundraiser. He works as an attorney and is also the Class Parent Chair at John Burroughs School. One of Bill’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the way each member of his family has been able to learn and grow here in many ways.
Bonnie Solomon and her husband, Norman, have been members since 1980. Aside from serving on the Board here, she is also the Vice President of Community Service at the Jewish Federation, a board member for the JCA Auxiliary Foundation, the Vice President of Leadership at NCJW and a committee member for JFCS Agency Services. Bonnie is also involved with Women’s Philanthropy, Covenant Place, Chesterfield Older Adult Task Force and the JCC Jewish Book Festival Committee. Bonnie is a retired Senior Housing Professional and spends her free time volunteering, playing Mah Jongg and participating in book club. One of Bonnie’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is her opportunity to serve on the Board.
Jill Solomon and her husband, Todd, have been members since 2000. She has been involved with the Preschool, the Religious School, Sisterhood and membership. Jill is also part of the J Associates Board, Rubinite 2014, the NCJW and the PTO Welcoming Committee for Mason Ridge. She works as a Speech Language Pathologist and spends her free time enjoying art, reading and her family One of Jill’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the sense of community she and her family have found here.
Josh Wallach and his wife, Stacey, have been members since 2004, though Josh has really been a member his whole life. Josh also serves as Vice President of the Operating Committee and Co-Chair for the Shaare the Vision Campaign. He is also involved with the Jewish Federation Board of Trustees and the Wexner Heritage Program. Josh spends his free time playing guitar, cooking, running reading and enjoying his family. One of Josh’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is that it is his home away from home and that he has the opportunity to work with amazing people as a lay leader.
Richard Cohen and his wife, Sharon, have been members of Shaare Emeth since 1980. Richard also serves on the Adult Education Committee, the Policy Committee and the Committee for the Heart and Soul Gala. He is also the founding director and former President of Cancer Support Community, a former board member for St. Louis Association for Retarded Citizens and Make a Wish of Missouri Foundation. Richard is a retired attorney and spends his free time enjoying sports and all forms of music. One of Richard’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the wonderful sense of community, starting with the clergy and continuing throughout the congregants. It feels like “home.”
Andy Speller and his wife, Tracy, have been members since 1995. Over the years, Andy has been involved with the Spring Fundraiser committee as a member, and also as both a chair and co-chair. Andy is a stay at home dad and enjoys cooking, playing golf and watching football in his spare time. One of Andy’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is that so many important life cycle events for his children have taken place here.
Doug Kolker has been a member his whole life. He and his wife, Stephanie, have two children, Sydney and Danielle. Doug serves in the Kibbitz Café as well as on the Membership Committee at Missouri Venture Forum. He is also involved in various committee through the Jewish federation. Doug is the Director of R&E Tax Credit Services at Mueller Prost LC. One of Doug’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth that all of his family events have happened here. From hisBar Mitzvah to his kids’ Bat Mitzvah, they have shared many important moments with the congregation.
Greg and his wife, Julie, have been members since the 90s. Greg works as a Commercial Real Estate Broker and Developer. He really enjoys Shaare Emeth.
Holly Bernstein has served on the board since 2015. She and her husband have been members of Shaare Emeth since 2008 and. Holly also serves on the Tzedek Committee and the Spring Fundraiser Committee. Holly is an Adjunct professor of Mathematics at Harris Stowe State University and enjoys cooking, reading and crafts in her spare time. One of Holly’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the sense of friendship and belonging that she feels within the congregation.
Randy Brodsky has served on the board since 2016 and he and his wife, Andrea, have been members of Shaare Emeth since 2000. Randy also serves as a MOSHE member, HR committee chair and as a member of the Investment Committee. Randy works for the Monsanto Finance Treasury in Pension Plan and Savings Fund Investments. Randy enjoys Cardinal baseball, and visiting his kids in college during his spare time. One of Randy’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is our welcoming nature and diversity, with activities for all ages and demographics.
Marianne Chervitz and her husband, Steve, have been members of Shaare Emeth since the very beginning of their lives. Marianne also served on the Youth Committee during merger talks and was lay leader for B’nai Mitzvah Revolution through URJ. She also served on the Board at JCC as has been involved in several committees for the J as well as other local Jewish organizations. Marianne currently works as the Family Center Supervisor at the J. In her spare time, she teaches piano lessons and loves going to concerts, spending time with her family and friends, traveling, working out and volunteering. One of Marianne’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth are her memories of growing up here and being confirmed by Rabbi Bennett. She is happy to know that her kids will be able to have great experiences here as well.
Dana DeBlasi and her husband, Vince, have been members since the late 80s. Both of theuir children attend Religious School where Dana taught while attending college at University St. Louis. Dana works in Project Management at Jewish Federations of North America and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, eating good food and exercising in her spare time. One of Dana’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the welcoming and caring nature. She says, “whatever my needs for a congregations have been at that moment, Shaare Emeth has been there to be a part of it in all the best ways.”
Darcy Glidewell and her husband, Dan, have been members since childhood and the again in 2002. Darcy also serves on the Membership Committee at Shaare Emeth and also works with the Next Step Scholarship Foundation and the Alan Greenberg Memorial Scholarship. While she works in sales, Dana spends her free time staying active in support and recovery communities and in education funding in the metro area. One of Darcy’s favorite thigs about Shaare Emeth is growing up and attending Religious School here.
Mark Gubernik and his wife, Lisa, have been members since 200. They have both chaired the Heart and Soul Gala in 2014, while Mark has spent many years volunteering for SGP events. Dan also coaches his daughter’s softball team and served on many leadership councils during his 21 years at Edward Jones where he is a Financial Planner. In his free time, Mark enjoys playing the drums in his band Mack Daddyz. One of Mark’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the close bond he has formed with the members, staff and clergy. He says, “I feel like I am part of a community.”
Ted Houser and his wife, Jennifer, have been members since 2001. Ted also serves as Tzedik Committee Chair and as a member of the traffic committee. He also volunteers with the Millstone Institute and as a Girls Little League Softball coach. Ted works as a Forecasting and Supply Chain Analyst and spends his free time coaching softball, playing golf and reading history. One of Ted’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the fact that he converted to Judaism here in 2009.
Julie Lazarus and her husband, Todd, have been members since 2007. She has served on the board since 2016 and also serves on the Inclusion Committee. Julie works as a school Social Worker/Mental Health Specialist and enjoys travel and sports in her free time. One of Julie’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth that Rabbi Bennett has been involved in all of her special occasions and enjoying her children going to Shirlee Green Preschool like she did.
Ken Levine and his wife, Leiba, have been members since 2003. Ken has served on the board since 2015 and is also the President of MOSHE as well as the President of his Homeowners Association. Ken works as a Sales Manager at West County Volvo and enjoys cooking and helping out with events in his spare time. One of Ken’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the opportunity to get involved and make a difference.
Rachel has been a member since 2006, though her husband, David, has been a member his whole life. Rachel has served on the board since 2016 and also serves on the PTO at Wildhorse Elementary. Rachel’s oldest daughter attends Sunday School and Camp Emeth and they both enjoy the Early Childhood Engagement activities. Rachel also cooks for Peter and Paul and is very involved in the Shaare the Vision campaign. One of Rachel’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the history her family and husband have here.
Eunice Reichman and her husband, John, have been members since 1975. Eunice has served on the board since 2015 and is also involved in HR and Leadership at the Temple as well as the Jewish Book Festival. Eunice is retired after 20 years as HR Director and Assistant Director of JCC. She spends her free time knitting baby blankets for Operation Linus and with Adult Learning at Washington University. One of Eunice’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the representation of older adult membership at the Temple.
Mark Rubin has been a member since 1975 and his wife, Michelle, since 1991. He has served on the Board since 2016. Mark works as a Real Estate Broker/Investor and spends his free time enjoying sports and travel. One of Mark’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is that he has experienced a lot of wonderful life cycle events with his family here.
Jenn Saggett and her husband, Scott, have been members since 2006. Jenn has served on the board since 2015 and is active in the Religious School and Camp Emeth. She is also involved in Green Trails Elementary PTO Board. Jenn works as a Speech Pathologist/Art Teacher. One of Jenn’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is that this is where she grew up and has always felt at home here.
Irl Scissors and his wife, Shannon, have been members since 2007, though Irl grew up here. Irl has served on the board since 2016 and is also the New Tamid Chair. He is also involved with the Kaufman Fund as an Advisory Board Member and works as a Principal at Gateway Government Relations. One of Irl’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is that he is a third generation member and that his grandfather was President of the Congregation in the 70s.
Dan Weinstein and his wife, Dana have been members since 2005. Dan is active in the Religious School, the Hebrew School, Camp, Shabbat services and Room at the Inn. He is also involved with the Logos Academic Advisory Committee. Dan works as a Psychologist and spends his free time enjoying his family, music, playing guitar, juggling and outdoor activities. One of Dan’s favorite things about Shaare Emeth is the sense of community.
